Veronica Cretu is a highly experienced Governance and Data for Development Expert with over 20 years of experience in open government, open data, AI and Internet Governance, Gender Equality and Women Empowerment. She co-founded the Innovating Governance Association in Vienna, Austria and holds a MA in Contemporary Diplomacy and a post-graduate Diploma in IT and Diplomacy from the University of Malta. Veronica has also completed several short-term programs from prestigious institutions such as Harvard University, Georgetown University, DiploFoundation. 

Veronica has worked extensively in Moldova and across Eastern Partnership (EaP), Western Balkans, and Central Asia countries. She has served on various global committees and advisory groups and has been leading national open government efforts in Moldova as a civil society co-chair of the Moldovan Coordination Committee on Open Government (2010-2022). She has been serving as an Envoy to the Open Government Partnership (OGP) since 2016. 

Veronica is currently a member of two committees at the Council of Europe: Committee on AI and Access Info Group (Tromso Convention). 

Veronica is a former member of the UN Multi-stakeholder Advisory Group to the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) and has led national Internet Governance efforts in Moldova from 2006 to 2018, convening each year meetings, seminars, workshops on specific IG issues with relevant stakeholders. 

Veronica provided consultancy and expertise working with the World Bank, OSCE, UNFPA, UNDP, University of Central Asia, Social Impact, Oxford Policy Management, OSI, Open Contracting Partnership, other organizations. Veronica is skilled in independent project evaluation, rapid assessments, research methodology, and critical thinking.

Veronica is a native Romanian speaker with fluent English, basic French and German, and fluent Russian. She is currently based in Vienna, Austria, and is a sought-after expert in her field, known for her dedication to promoting digital transformation, AI, open government, gender equality, and the role of Diaspora in the development agenda.
